The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The purchase will see Splash Tech’s jackpot and free-to-play technology integrated into RubyPlay’s existing portfolio.
The deal will develop the supplier’s offering beyond slot games to include operator engagement tools designed to support player acquisition, retention and cross-sell.
Splash Tech’s products are already deployed with a number of partner operators and platform providers.
Its flagship jackpot solution allows operators to run jackpots across content from multiple game suppliers, rather than being confined to one studio.
RubyPlay partners will now gain access to Splash Tech’s jackpot and free-to-play offering, alongside features like free spins, rewards, missions and tournaments.
The company also plans to develop additional tech tailored to its proprietary game studios, which include Koala Games, Mad Hat Games, xSlots and Firerose.
RubyPlay CEO Tsachi Maimon said the acquisition represented an important step in the company’s evolution.
“Through this acquisition, we are moving beyond the traditional content silo to firmly establish RubyPlay as a premium content and engagement platform provider,” he said.
“This elevated market position ensures we are delivering new revenue streams for our partners, providing them with effective ways to address player acquisition and retention.
“Splash Tech has earned a strong reputation within the industry for driving innovation within the engagement tools space, underpinned by its superior expertise, data and content,” he added.
What is Splash Tech?
Splash Tech was founded in 2020 by gambling industry entrepreneur Adam Wilson, who currently serves as the company’s CEO.
With a background in affiliate marketing at operators including bwin (now Entain) and 888 (now evoke), Wilson originally founded swipe betting start-up Bookee in 2015.
Bookee was described as the “tinder of betting” and was one of the first businesses to try and crack the concept of social betting in the UK market.
After mixed fortunes, the technology behind Bookee was eventually used to develop Splash Tech, which signed its first deal with a UK-licensed operator (Mr Q) in June.
Wilson has confirmed that existing customers will continue to receive the same products and support following the acquisition by Ruby Play.
In a heartfelt post on LinkedIn, Wilson wrote: “I am insanely proud to announce that Splash Tech has joined the RubyPlay family.
“RubyPlay is an incredible business, powered by the brightest minds in our industry. This is the best team in iGaming, and it just got better.”
