Merkur Group has finalised its acquisition of Gaming Arts, LLC, a Las Vegas-based gaming technology provider, marking a significant expansion of its presence in the US.
The transaction, approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission in May, was officially completed on 15 September.
This development follows the German company’s receipt of a Nevada manufacturing and distribution licence earlier this year, enabling it to re-enter the US market with direct access to operators.

Merkur Group Chairman Lars Felderhoff said in a LinkedIn post: “In May, we had our first reason to celebrate when we received a licence to manufacture and distribute our MERKUR products in Nevada. Now we’re raising our glasses again: to the successful acquisition of Gaming Arts in Las Vegas and our return to the land of opportunity!”

Merkur Group emphasised that the purchase of Gaming Arts is a central part of its US growth strategy.

The company noted that the American gaming market is among the most prestigious and heavily regulated globally, making its return a milestone.

Gaming Arts holds licences in more than 155 gaming jurisdictions, providing an immediate scale-up opportunity that significantly expands on Merkur’s predominantly European operations.

Founded in Las Vegas, Gaming Arts has developed a reputation for technological innovation in the American market.

Its 68-member team designs slot machines, electronic table games, bingo and keno products tailored to domestic preferences.

Gaming Arts to undergo significant transformation

The acquisition enables Gaming Arts to add Merkur’s gaming cabinets, including the recently launched Mod Ex series, into its portfolio while continuing to develop localised content.
Robert Ziems, CEO of Gaming Arts, described the merger as transformative, highlighting the expanded resources and global reach that Merkur brings.

He said the combined strength of the two companies would allow Gaming Arts to push innovation and execution further than before.

For Merkur, the integration delivers not only access to new markets but also the ability to leverage Gaming Arts’ established relationships with US operators.

Merkur’s leadership stressed that Gaming Arts’ existing licences coupled with its operational expertise make it a strategic asset.

The acquisition provides a direct route to North American customers, bolsters synergies within Merkur Group, and supports the company’s broader international growth plans.

Company executives underscored that the US market will serve as a key growth lever, complementing their European base and positioning the group for long-term expansion.

By aligning Gaming Arts’ US market experience with Merkur’s global infrastructure, the group expects to alleviate the challenges typically faced by new entrants in the American gaming industry.

This integration creates an immediate platform for Merkur to expand its product footprint and strengthen its role as a global gaming supplier.
